2017 Points #2 Pueblo Results

The 2017 Colorado Walleye Association 2nd tournament for 2017 is in the books.  There were 36 teams that signed up for this one and the fishing was hot a heavy as many teams reported catching over 50 fish a day but finding a box full of keepers proved to be a challenge for many.

On day one we started off with the national anthem and then it was go time.  At the kickoff,  most the boats headed west to their day one spot. The winds were calm with sunny skies and temperatures reached close to 80 degrees.  Teams started catching fish right away and continued to catch fish all day.  Teams were doing a multitude of presentations but pitching jigs into the shallows, jigging and using bottom bouncers seemed to be the presentation that most used.

The two flights came in to weigh their fish and most teams came to the scale with a keeper or two but some teams were able get a full box.  On day one there were 99 fish brought to the scale totaling 217.55 lbs. The top three teams after day one were: 1st Haag / Haag with an impressive 13.77 lbs,  2nd Metschke / Call with 11.27 lbs. & in 3rd  Eigsti / Todd with 11.16 lbs.

On day two the day started off with cloud cover and light winds.  Again, many teams headed west with only a few teams going east to try the clear water.  On the east end of the lake the water clarity was over 15 feet and out west is was close to the 5-foot range.  Teams were sticking with the same types of presentations as they did on day one but some went to using slip bobbers.  As the day went on teams were again catching a lot of fish.  Towards the last hour or so of the tournament the winds picked up from time to time and we were met with some on and off light rain.  Teams rapped up their day and many teams again brought fish to the scale.

On day two there were 78 fish brought to the scale totaling 172.77 lbs.  The top three teams for day two were:  1st  Haag / Haag with 13.82 lbs, 2nd Giordano / Giordano with 12.76 lbs & in 3rd Petersen / Black with 11.66 lbs.  Haag / Haag also had big fish for the tournament with a beauty that went 5.01 lbs and the top mix team was Wilkinson / Abernathy.

Pueblo reservoir was a great time and it was good to see so many familiar faces as well as getting to meet new teams.  A special thanks to Cannon Marine for helping and everyone that put the time into getting this tournament put together.  After it was all said and done to top ten overall teams were:
